Hillary Clinton Has Made a Short Visit to Tel Aviv
On Sunday July 15, Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State arrived in Israel. The purpose of this visit was to conduct some high-level talks with the officials of Israel regarding the nuclear program running in Iran and the stalemate peach process with Palestine. This was Clinton’s first visit to Israel in the last two years. She went there on a flight from Egypt.
The 24-hour long visit was the last one of Clinton’s tour in eight countries of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. During this time, she was supposed to meet and talk with President of Israel Shimon Peres, the state’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.
According to an official travelling with the delegation, Clinton also had planned to talk to Salam Fayyad, the prime minister of Palestine.
She last visited Israel in 2010 in order to resolve a conflict over a building of Jewish settlement that threatened to jeopardize the peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
