Jolie fights against sexual violence, Doc Watson dead at 89

Oscar winning Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has joined the forces initiated by the UK government to put an end to the sexual violence in war zones. To launch the new campaign, she met William Hague, the British Secretary, in London. She said that sexual violence has been used as weapon in war zones and the main victims of this brutality were girls and women. Jolie is a special emissary for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees.

Folk singer and Grammy winning American guitarist Arthel Lane ‘Doc’ Watson died at 89 on Tuesday in a hospital of North Carolina. He has recently gone through an abdominal surgery. A statement released by the Folklore Productions International has termed Watson as a powerful singer who created a unique style by blending country, blues, bluegrass, and gospel music. Besides winning a Grammy for lifetime achievement in 2004, he won seven Grammy awards. His most popular songs are ‘Shady Grove’, ‘Tom Dooley’, ‘Rising Sun Blues’, etc.
