Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks in 2012

Macy’s 4th of July Firework show is arranged to commemorate the independence of USA. Approximately, millions of people gather around the Hudson River in New York City to watch this show. Like every year, the spectacular show will again illuminate the sky over the Hudson River in this year too. In 2009, the display traversed through the town from its traditional location in order to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery of the Hudson River. This year, the show will be back to its old place that is the west side of Manhattan near the Hudson River. The display was first staged on the Hudson River in 1958. After that, it became an East River Tradition in 1976.
Forty thousand shells will be exploded in this year’s Macy’s show. It is expected that the fireworks will reach at a height of 1,000 feet in the air. The starting time is set at 9:20 pm on July 4. The 26-minute long display will be kicked off from six barges. The ‘Golden Mile’ fireworks effect is a trademark of every year’s Macy’s show. It is a spray of golden sparkles extending a mile across the river. This year, it will be enhanced by adding mile-long spray of red and green sparkles.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘Ignite the Night’. The Facebook fans chose the songs that will be featured on the show. The songs include Madonna’s ‘Holiday’, Ray Charles’ ‘America the Beautiful’, Whitney Houston’s ‘One Moment in Time’, Lee Greenwood’s ‘God Bless the U.S.A.’, and many more. The music is generally played in synchronization with the bursting outbursts of color in the sky, while fitting in with the theme of American independence. The New York Fire Department also takes part in the show by shooting blue, white, and rd water from their boats. The colored water may shoot 30 feet above the surface river water.
You can catch the best view of the show from the west side of Manhattan below 59th streets and the spots along the waterfront of New Jersey. The northbound lanes of the West Side Highway and the 12th Avenue between 20th 59th streets will also yield good views of the fireworks display.
