On Saturday at the green slime covered Kids Choice Awards, none but Kristen Stewart and the British boy band ‘One Direction’ won two awards each.
The 22-year-old Twilight star escaped being covered with slime but dipped her hands deliberately into the green glop and said that she had lastly found her kindergarten self. She won the awards for favorite movie actress and favorite female butt kicker.
The event honored artists in more than twenty categories spanning music, books, TV, film, and sport. According to the organizers, more than 350 million viewer votes were cast for the event, which was a record for any award event this year. The ceremony was aired on the channel Nickelodeon.
The show, which was hosted by Josh Duhamel and opened with a duet performance from Christina Aguilera and Pitbull, was held in Los Angeles. Singer Ke$ha also gave a performance in the event.
Katy Perry and Johnny Depp took home the blimp-shaped awards for being winner in the categories of favorite female singer and favorite movie actor respectively. Both of them delivered words of wisdom to the kids. Selena Gomez took home the award for favorite female TV actress for the series ‘Wizard of Waverly Place’ that was ended over a year ago. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson won in the category of favorite male butt kicker.
‘One Direction’ who won trophies for their song ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and for favorite music group was not present on the show. Other winners who could not appear in person were Justin Bieber (favorite male singer), Ross Lynch (favorite TV actor for Disney’s ‘Austin & Ally’), and Simon Cowell (favorite villain).
Other winners were ‘The Hunger Game’ (favorite movie), ‘Victorious’ (favorite TV show), and ‘Wreck-It-Ralph’ (favorite animation movie). Apart from that, basketball star LeBron James and racer Danica Patrick won the trophies for top athletes.
Nickelodeon said that the event would be broadcast in more than 25 languages around the world.
