On Monday, Brazil police arrested the co-owners, a promoter, and a band member of the nightclub called ‘Kiss’ for being responsible for a fire that killed 233 people on the weekend.
Rio Grande do Sul Tribunal, the local court’s website, said that the police had arrested those people for just five days for investigative purposes. According to a primary investigation, a pyrotechnics show of the band performing that night ignited the fire. One member of the band also died of that fire.
Sandro Meinerz, a police inspector, said to watch a horrible scene inside. He described it alike a scene from movies about Holocaust where bodies are shown being piled one over another.
The incident happened on Sunday. The funerals of more than 50 victims were observed on Monday. Over than 130 victims are still hospitalized.
Humberto Viana, the Civil Defense Minister of Brazil, said to a local newspaper that the club did not renew the fire inspection license after it was expired in August 2012. Police authorities also confirmed the expiration of the club’s business license last year.
