On Saturday evening, George Lucas, the mastermind behind the ‘Star Wars’, married Mellody Hobson, Dreamworks Animation’s chairwoman and financial company Ariel Investments’ president, in his Marin County’s Skywalker Ranch. Journalist Bill Moyers officiated the ceremony.
The bride was given away by her longtime friend and former New Jersey senator, Bill Bradley. It was the first marriage for 44-year-old Hobson and second for 69-year-old Lucas.
Lynne Hale, the spokeswoman for Lucas, said to the ‘Marin Independent Journal’ that the guests invited for the ceremony were only those people who had been long-time friend of Lucas and Hobson. According to her, the love-filled day was amazing for both the couple and the guests.
Many renowned faces joined the ceremony including Steven Spielberg, Janelle Monae, Francis Ford Coppola, Van Morrison, and Ron Howard. Monae and Morrison also performed in the ceremony.
Lucas sold his company Lucasfilm last year to Disney for a deal worth almost $4 billion.
