London’s Fashion Olympics

With the inclusion of fashion icons like Giorgio Armani, Stella McCartney, and Ralph Lauren, the London Olympics 2012 has earned the title of fashion Olympics too. These icons have been assigned the job of designing the outfits for different national teams.

Karl Lagerfeld, a fashion legend, is one of the big names to rush to London for putting his stamp on a summer full of style as well as sport. Being inspired by the Olympics, he has launched his new label ‘Karl’ at Selfridges, the department store at the Oxford Street.

Sportswear giant Adidas has hired the British designer Stella McCartney for designing the kit of Team GB. Herbert Heiner, the CEO of Adidas, said that sports had a big influence on fashion. He also assumed that the trend of hiring fashion designer started by them would be copied afterwards.

The Managing Director of Prism Steve Madincea said that the Olympics represented a key branding opportunity.

With the involvements of fashion icons into the event, London Olympics will definitely be on the talks of fashion lovers.
