Kwame Kilpatrick, the former Detroit Mayor, was found responsible for 24 of 30 accusations he faced, with the gravest charge of racketeering. The judgments ended after a six-month trial.
The case, which observed over 80 witnesses confirming about misconducts done by Kwame and his accomplices, put emphasis on Kilpatrick’s manipulation of bids, pushing business to suppliers for bribes, and applying public and non-profit funds for personal gain.
Facing with the charges of scandalous deeds is not new to Kilpatrick as he has already been disgraced for his affair with his head of staff, but the culpable verdicts and extended prison punishments are something new to him.
The judges called Kilpatrick not only a hazard of flight but also a threat to the society. His father and a contractor were also found guilty during the trial.
A large number of federal charges were brought against Kwame Kilpatrick. He was accused of employing the mayor’s office for the gain of him and his associates, according to the report of CNN associate WDIV-TV.
