This weekend, no ticket matches the numbers of Powerball jackpot. So, the prize money keeps growing and reaches to nearly $400 million for the drawing on Wednesday.
Though the midweek jackpot was yet to reach the highest ever jackpot worth of $590.5 million, it would be the fourth-biggest lottery prize and third-biggest Powerball jackpot ever.
That highest jackpot was won by an 84-year-old woman from Florida in May this year.
With the Powerball number 15, the winning numbers on Saturday’s drawing were 21, 24, 36, 42, and 45.
The trend of swelling jackpots in such a short interval of time is the result of the changes brought to the game last year by the Powerball organizers.
In order to grow the jackpots bigger within a short time, the price of Powerball tickets was made double in January 2012. The price was increased to $2 from $1.
Irrespective of the number of people playing the game, the odds of winning jackpot remain 1 in 175.2 million.
