The divorce case of Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng became juicer after Tony Blair, a pal of Deng and the ex-British prime minister, was dragged into the matter.
On Thursday, news broke out that the 82-year-old media mogul had filed for divorce. Soon after that, the U.K. and U.S. journalists, close to Murdoch and his company News Corporation, started twittering about a scandalous probable motive for split. Murdoch and Deng have been married for 14 years.
The journalists pointed their fingers toward a possible affair between 44-year-old Deng and 60-year-old Blair, who is also the godfather of the two young daughters of the couple. However, a spokesman for Blair denied the claim.
Michael Wolff, the biographer of Murdoch, also predicted that this divorce would not be handled in a conventional discreet and behind-closed-door manner. However, Wolff said that Deng and Blair are close friends and the former had always been very frank about that.
So, the reason of Murdoch’s divorce filing has still remained a matter of wide speculation.
