A 16-year-old British teenager named Zara Hartshorn has been given a facelift. She has been suffering from a rare genetic disorder called ‘cutis laxa’ that made her look middle-aged since she was a child. She said that the pioneering facelift had given her a new lease on life.
A British doctor has given Zara the facelift for free after hearing her condition.
According to the Department of Human Genetics in the University of Pittsburgh, the disease causes wrinkled skin, inelastic, and prematurely loose. Besides, it can also weaken joints and cause lung and heart problems.
The symptoms of the disease became evident on Zara’s skin when she was only 4 years old. Her mother took to her doctors and they said that Zara was positive with hereditary lipodystrophy. Zara’s mother Tracey had also been diagnosed with the same genetic disorder.
In an interview with the British network ‘Channel 5’, Zara said that she had to endure worst kind of bullying and even physical assaults because of her disease.
However, at last Dr. Abhimanyu Garg gave her a new life by giving her the facelift.
